The AB-SSD Distinguished Research Award in Dysphagia

The AB-SSD Distinguished Research Award in Dysphagia is given to a speech-language pathologist who presents a scientific paper at the Dysphagia Research Society Annual Meeting for topics related to swallowing function and disorders.


The $500.00 award is funded by the American Board of Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders.

To be eligible for this award the applicant must meet the following criteria:

1. The applicant must be the presenter and first author on the abstract submission
    (oral platform) presented at the upcoming DRS Annual Meeting.

2.  The research may have a pediatric or adult focus.


3.  The applicant must be an ASHA or NSSLHA member.


4.  The BCS-S designation is not required to be eligible for this award; however, such a designation will yield an advantage in total points earned.


Please provide the following information when applying:

  • Confirmation of ASHA or NSSLHA member. Please provide your ASHA member number
  • Indicate if you have BCS-S designation.
