Clarence T. Sasaki MD, The Charles W. Ohse Professor of Surgery at The Yale School of Medicine, has had a long-standing interest and experience in physiological research of the larynx, serving as Director of The Yale Larynx Laboratory since 1973. The Sasak i Award is given to an M.D. or M.D. candidate who presents a scientific paper or poster at the Dysphagia Research Society Annual Meeting on topics related to swallow function and disorders. 


The Award of $250.00 will recognize the presentation judged most meritorious based on scientific rigor and clinical relevance. 

  • The applicant must be presenter or 1st author on the abstract submission accepted for oral or poster presentation at the upcoming DRS Annual Meeting.
  • If the applicant’s submission is accepted, the applicant must provide the review committee a 2-page (double space, 1 inch margin) summary including Introduction, Methodology, Data and Conclusions.
  • The candidate must supply a current curriculum vitae to be considered for the award.
  • Candidates may apply more than once if they continue to meet the criteria.
