In the age of technology, distance and access to provider education and counselling to patients are feasible approaches in improving compliance. Using technology and tele-health approaches, education of providers for dysphagic patients can enhance the scope of their practice far and wide. Web-based curriculum and simulation based training can be helpful in overcoming translational challenges.

After this presentation, attendees will be able to:

  • Have awareness of the various ways technology and telepractice can be used to support training and mentoring of clinicians working in dysphagia management.
  • Have knowledge of the current evidence, and future applications, for telepractice and technology (apps, wearable devices, etc.) in the delivery of dysphagia services.
  • Be aware of key practice considerations regarding using technology and telepractice and what needs to be address in future research.
