Springer Publishing Junior Investigator Scholarship


The Dysphagia Research Society is pleased to announce the Springer Publishing Travel Scholarship. The Scholarship is designed to provide support  junior, international and out of field presenters to attend the upcoming DRS Annual Meeting and Preconference.

The scholarship will include: 1) $500 USD for travel related expenses to attend the meeting; 2) Waived registration to the upcoming Annual Meeting and Preconference, and 3) Should you choose to apply for DRS membership this year, you will receive gratis membership for the current year.

This year, we will award one travel scholarship for each of the following four categories (one awardee each):

1. Clinician - masters level clinician or medical doctor who is working clinically (does not hold a research Doctorate).

2. International - presenter who resides in a country outside of the United States or Canada.

3. Under represented disciplines – any discipline other than Speech Language Pathology.

4. Student or Trainee - Person enrolled in full time studies (undergraduate or graduate studies) or a full time fellowship or residency.


Eligibility: The candidate must be a new DRS presenter (first or second time presenting in either oral or poster format). If accepted, the recipient must register for the conference and present their research at the upcoming meeting.  In addition, the applicant must specify which category they are applying under.

Application Materials:

1. Letter of Intent: A personal statement explaining how attending DRS will help your clinical and/or research career goals in 300 words or less (statements over 300 words will be disqualified).

2. Letter of Recommendation from a research mentor. The letter must provide an evaluation of the applicant's skills, accomplishments, and potential for contributing to the field of deglutition.
